Philanthropic Projects in Memory of Katie Shirley

Katie Shirley’s Closet was born of a mother’s enduring love for her only child that she tragically lost in June 2007.
In her effort to perpetuate the beautiful and generous spirit of her daughter Katie, Stephanie Shirley founded the organization with hopes to help others in need, all in Katie’s memory. Read more here...

Dear Katie Shirley’s Closet friends and supporters,

After 5 years, we have decided it is time for Katie’s Closet to take a much needed break. This was a very difficult decision to come to, but the timing was right. This break will also serve as a time of transition out of the active role that Katie‘s Closet has played for Daystar.

Why?
It’s time! Daystar broke ground on their new building and the lobby will be dedicated in memory of Katie. As you know, I wanted something positive and lasting to come from the loss of my Katie bug. A place where medically fragile babies and families can gain much needed support and “where love shines” felt right. It was!!!
Our goal was to make a few bracelets, spread the word and raise as much money as we could for Daystar. Thanks to all of you we did that in a BIG way!

What does this mean for Katie’s Closet?
I am not sure what’s next for Katie’s Closet but we all know there are so many people who need assistance and awareness brought to their cause.

I was so proud to be a part of the successful blood drive and the Red Cross was thrilled. That success reassures me that the legacy of the Fairport Angels can bring down the house on almost anything!!!

I will never be able to express my profound gratitude for all the support we have received from the community over the years.

With much love and appreciation,
Stephanie Shirley
